PCB Trace Impedance & Crosstalk Estimator

In high-speed layout design, controlling single-ended impedance (usually 50 Ω) and minimizing coupling crosstalk (e.g. keeping 3W spacing rules) are vital. This tool calculates microstrip impedance and Near-End Crosstalk (NEXT).

Guidelines

3W Rule: Keeping the center-to-center distance at 3× width (spacing S ≥ 2W) reduces the electromagnetic crosstalk by up to 70%.
Impedance Match: For 50 Ω targets, if Z0 is too high, increase line width W or reduce dielectric height H.
Ground Return: Keeping a solid ground reference plane directly adjacent to the signals keeps the return loop tight and restricts stray fields.
